2009 Sugar Bowl:
Utah vs Alabama
Played on New Year’s Day of this year, the Hawaii Warriors-Georgia matchup was one of the most memorable in the history of the Sugar Bowl.
Sugar Bowl is a yearly college football tradition in the US, which is hosted at New Orleans. Along with other Bowl competitions, it is the second oldest in the US, just next to the Rose Bowl. The Sugar Bowl has served as host of the BCS National events in two years (2000 and 2004). However, since 2006, the BCS games became an independent entity after the New Year day’s competitions.
In that mentioned game, Sugar Bowl tickets sold like crazy, for it was a momentous event. Prior to that, Hawaii has never competed against the Georgia team, which is one of the strongest in the field. In this Sugar Bowl game, Georgia did not only beat the Hawaii Warriors, they crushed the latter. Those who bought their Hawaii Warriors tickets had their hopes crushed, as they saw Georgia dish out an awesome ground game and put never-ending pressure on Hawaii’s Colt Brennan.
In Hawaii’s singular effective possession in the 1st half, a penalty (foul) forced them to accept a field goal, and nothing more. Then, they had eight penalties in the 1st half, trailing on a score of 24 to 3 during the break.
This event may have turned out to be overrated, but surely, there would surely be more memorable Sugar Bowl games to come, so get ready to buy your Sugar Bowl tickets!
